Are there any ATMs in Amed?

As Amed is a smaller town, cash is still king around here! You’ll find that a lot of the smaller warungs and shops won’t accept cards for payment, so it's best to come prepared. There are a couple of ATMs on either side of town- one in ADI Shop, Solaluna Mart, and the other in Indomaret, however sometimes they run low on cash or are down for service. We always suggest to our guests to grab some cash in one of the bigger cities on your way here, just to be safe.

Can I use Grab or Gojek in Amed?

Ridesharing apps like Grab or Gojek aren't available in Amed. If you're cool with driving, the best way to get around is to rent a scooter. If you're not so confident, the better option is to hire a local driver to take you where you need to go. We know some great drivers that we can hook you up with to make sure you don't miss anything this place has to offer (and they won't rip you off either)!

Bring your camera for this one! Perched high in the hills behind Amed you’ll get 360 deg. views of the coast line, Mount Agung, and on a clear day even Lombok. Best at sunrise or sunset! Camping is available and highly recommended.

Jukung Fishing boat on the ocean at sunset.

Join the Locals on a fishing trip

Amed is a fishing village before it ever was a diving destination. Head out on a jukung before sunrise or just at sunset to join our local fishermen doing things the traditional way. It’s a one of a kind experience!

Person snorkeling next to a turtle

Snorkeling

With calm seas and a close/shallow reef there are plenty of spots to snorkel along our coast. Our favorite locations are Jemeluk Bay, Lipah Bay, Amed Beach (in front of Warung Pyramids), Japanese Wreck, & USAT Liberty in Tulamben. You can rent snorkeling gear from several locations along the beach.

People bathing at Titra Gangga Water Palace

Tirta Gangga

Tirta Gangga is a well known cultural attraction in Bali. About a 20 min drive from town, in this former palace you will find intricate statues, fountains, and stepping stones over a massive koi pond. For a small fee you can submerge in the holy waters.

Paddle boarder on the sea

Paddleboard or Kayak

Unlike the coastal region in the south of Bali, most of the time the ocean in Amed is flat and calm. It’s perfect for renting a paddle board or kayak and taking in the views.

Person doing a star jump at Lempuyang Temple

Lempuyang Temple

One of the most sacred temples on the island, so make sure you bring a sarong & cover your shoulders. Made famous for tourists via instagram, the iconic “shot” is the first temple up, but there are actually seven! So brings your walking shoes if you plan to see them all.

Person lying down having a massage.

Relax with a massage

East Bali is where you come to get away from the hustle and bustle of the south, and there’s no better way to unwind than a great massage. You can choose to get one right on the beach, or hit up any of the fantastic spas in town.  (Our fav’s are Island Girls and Alala Spa.)
